Since I could remember, mother loved the sea. However, we lived far away from it. Mother always wished to go watch the sea together, but she never had time to herself because she was too busy taking care of me and my brother. After coming to Korea as an adult, I went to the beach a couple of times and fell in love with the ocean’s mysterious charm. I expressed the beauty of the sea using various raw materials. The night sea was so quiet and beautiful, and it never lost its light even under the darkest skies. The sea under the sun was full of strong and powerful waves, which I expressed using wool. When I think of the sea, the one thing that comes to my mind is none other than the story of the Little Mermaid. I left it entirely to my imagination and created a sea of mermaids. The sunlight reflected on the surface reflects the scales of the mermaids, and their tails cause huge waves. What a dangerous yet beautiful place. I carefully capture my feelings and fantasies about the sea in this work dedicated to my mother.



한국으로 유학을 오고 바닷가를 몇 번 놀러갔다, 저 푸른 파도를 보니 나도 모르게 바다의 신비로운 매력에 빠져버렸다. 다양한 원료를 사용해 바다의 미를 표현하고자 했다. 늦은 밤의 바다는 어찌나 조용하고 아름다운지, 아무리 늦은 밤의 어둠이 도져도 빛을 잃는 법이 없었다. 햇빛 아래 바다의 파도는 또 얼마나 거센지, 아는 양모로 파도를 형상화했다. 바다와 관련해 가장 기억에 남는 건 다름아닌 인어공주의 이야기다, 온전히 자신의 상상력에 맡겨 인어의 바다를 만들어 보았다, 해수면에 반사된 햇빛은 인어의 비늘을 비추고, 그들의 꼬리는 거대한 파도를 불러 일으키는 모습이다. 참으로 위험하고도 아름다운 곳이 아닌가. 바다에 대한 감정과 환상을 이 작품 속에 조심스럽게 담아, 어머니에게 이 작품을 바친다.


从我记事起，妈妈就是个十分喜欢大海的人，但我们所生活的地方离大海却十分遥远。妈妈总是说着有时间就去海，但她为了照顾我和弟弟却很少能有自己的时间。长大后我来到韩国留学，去了很多次海边，看着一层又一层波光粼粼的海浪，我也沉浸于大海神秘又迷人的魅力之中。我想通过多样的面料记录下海洋的美。夜晚的海，十分宁静，但即使在黑暗中也闪烁着清透的光芒。日光下的海，多了份波涛汹涌，我用羊毛线来模拟激起的浪花。而最后我想起关于大海的一个浪漫传说—人鱼，完成了我想象中的人鱼之海，海水反射出人鱼们鱼鳞梦幻多变的色彩，她们的尾巴拍打出了巨大的浪花，这片海域，危险却又充满诱惑。我将我洋的感情与幻想融入作品之中，送给我的妈妈。
