The work was made by the form photo of pile of trash taken in a slum in Beijing, China. Although, it expressed the repeated pattern through the reduction of images.
This work is separated according to distance and intended to be seen differently. When audience’s distance is close to the artwork, whatever you imagine on the cloth will be seen in some form. It may be autumn foliage falling into the fields or insects flying in groups. However, getting closer to this work, you can only see trash but nothing else. And Martist sends the audience a message that the meaning of existence of abandoned things can vary depending on the method how they see it.
세계 최대 쓰레기 매립지에서 희망을 찍은 사진작가이자 아티스트 빅 뮤니츠의 다큐멘터리 영상 ‘웨이스트 랜드’에서 영감을 받아 2018년도부터 시작된 쓰레기와 기타 버려진 것들의 사진을 촬영하는 것으로부터 프로젝트는 시작되었다. 그리고 그 사진들을 패턴화 시켜 콜라쥬 작업을 하거나 아트지 혹은 천에 프린팅 하는 프로젝트 시리즈를 Inner Monologue라고 부르기 시작했다.
이 작품은 중국 베이징의 어느 한 빈민가에서 촬영한 쓰레기 더미의 모습으로 만들어졌고, 이미지의 축소를 통한 반복된 패턴 형태를 표현하였다.
이 작품은 시점에 따라 분리되어 있으며 다르게 보이기를 의도한 작품이다. 거리를 두고 보았을 때에는 천 위에 무엇을 상상하던 그것이 어떠한 형태로 보일 것이다. 그것이 들판에 떨어진 가을 단풍잎일 수도 있으며 무리를 지어 날아다니는 곤충일 수도 있다. 하지만 이 작품에 가까워질수록 쓰레기만 보일 뿐 그 외의 것은 보이지 않는다. 그리고 작가는 관중들에게 버려진 것들의 존재 의의를 이를 보는 시선에 따라 다양하게 보일 수 있다는 메시지를 전한다.
